“Nothing But The Blood: The Story of the Apostolic Singer of Miami” – A Documentary, discussion to follow

  • Nothing but the Blood: The Story of the Apostolic Singers of Miami.  The film documents the gospel group’s late 1991 first recording session – though, by then, they’d been performing together for more than 40 years. This documentary, which won ‘Best Music Documentary’ at the 2022 Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival,  was directed by Carmen Lundy.  She is also an accomplished jazz singer / songwriter (with 2 Grammy nominations), actress, and artist. Carmen Lundy has a family connection to the Apostolic Singers of Miami. The group, originally called a choir, was established in the early 1950’s by her grandfather. Her mother was one of the lead singers, and several aunts and cousins were also members. During the meeting we will discuss the film with Carmen Lundy herself joining us on Zoom to answer questions. Carmen’s Aunt Charlotte, a pianist, living in Boston, and a former member of the group, will also join in. How lucky we are!
